Recomended movie

September 7th, 2007 by ida-in-english

Matt_damon So far, The Bourne Ultimatumis the best action sequel movie more than Die Hard 3. I suggest if you want to see the last sequel of Jason Bourne adventure, it would really help if you’ve seen the first two movies in this series, the Bourne Identity and the Bourne Supremacy, because it kind of assumes that you already know that Jason Bourne is a guy with amnesia.

Matt Damon has definitely made Bourne his own. His character as CIA trained assassin suffering from amnesia who can never quite tell who his friends are or his enemies. He make his character more convincing than the road runner is a tribute to his talent and dedication. I highly recommend The Bourne Ultimatum for you, and I guarantee it won’t disappoint at all.

The cool thing about this movie is that the real revenge is not against bad guys (Vosen) in the CIA, but against the high-tech world that maddens mere mortals. Bourne’s body, blow it up with a bomb, expose it to brutal hand-to-hand combat and his body full of scratches. ****

Muhammadiyah, the Indonesia’s second largest Islamic is offering Islamic education for Thailand’s Muslim. The southern provinces of Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat, home to 1.8 million Muslims, were once an independent Muslim sultanate until annexed officially a century ago.

Muhammadiyah chairman said that Muhammadiyah want to help empower Thai’s Muslims in education, health and economy. Speaking to Thailand official, Mr. Din Syamsudin said that Muhammadiyah ready to help. He promise to send teachers, prachers and medical officer or invite some to come to Indonesia for schooling or short term education for cultural enrichment.

He also criticized the Islamic education process in south Thailand. He said one of the problems in Islamic education in Thailand is too conservative and the curriculum taught is very rigid. Students graduating from Islamic schools get nothing and have no clue about global issues. In the end, they are trapped in the devil’s ring of unemployment and poverty, which will create a perfect breeding ground for separatism and radicalism.

We hope, Thai government ready to cooperate with Muhammadiyah. It’s not about Islamic education only, we hope with soft approach we can create peace and prosperity in southern Thailand.

On the other side, Nurrohmah and other Thai Muslim students who studies in Indonesia and other countries, afraid to go home. According to media, the Thai’s government placed them as a potential extremist. They could be detained and held for nearly 30 days without charge under the controversial laws.

According to www.islamonline.com, the Thai government has repeatedly asked the State Islamic University Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta (UIN) for the names of Thai Muslim students, but the requests were declined many times by then rector Professor Azyumardi Azra over fears this could jeopardize the safety and wellbeing of his students.

There’s no chance for Thai Muslims to getting the Job in their own country. That’s the reason for Thai Muslim Students, which studies in Indonesia, decide to find a job in Indonesia instead. Thai Muslims have long complained of discrimination in jobs and education under the heavy-handed practices by the military. For the case, the International Crisis Group has recently urged the military-installed government to start preparing the Buddhist majority to accept a negotiated autonomy for the Muslim-majority south.

Stop Smoking….

June 14th, 2007 by ida-in-english

No_smoke

According to WHO, tobacco is the second major cause of death in the world. It is well known that half the people who smoke regularly today – about 650 million people – will eventually be killed by tobacco. Equally alarming is the fact that hundreds of thousands of people who have never smoked die each year from diseases caused by breathing second-hand tobacco smoke. And some 200,000 workers die each year due to exposure to smoke at work, while around 700 million children, around half the world’s total, breathe air polluted by tobacco smoke, particularly in the home.

The World Health Organization has been championing an international campaign against tobacco use and called for a global ban on smoking at work and in enclosed public places. Of course, it would help limit non-smokers’ exposure to second-hand smoke, which can kill through heart disease and serious respiratory and cardiovascular illness.

"The evidence is clear, there is no safe level of exposure to second-hand tobacco smoke," WHO Director-General Margaret Chan in a statement ahead of World No Tobacco Day. "And many countries have already taken action. And all countries that have not yet done so to take this immediate and important step to protect the health of all".

The Global Youth Tobacco Survey, developed by WHO and the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), interviewed students between 13 and 15 years old in 132 countries between 1999 and 2005. The results of the survey show that 43.9% of the students are exposed to second-hand tobacco smoke at home, while 55.8% are exposed to smoke in public places. Support for smoking bans in public places is global, with 76.1% of the students surveyed in favour.

The costs of second-hand smoke are not limited to the burden of disease. Exposure also imposes economic costs on individuals, businesses and society as a whole. These include primarily direct and indirect medical costs, but also productivity losses. In addition, workplaces where smoking is permitted incur higher renovation and cleaning costs, and increased risk of fire, and may experience higher insurance premiums.

Organizations, institutions and communities around the world celebrate World No Tobacco Day with different activities, for example marches, educational meetings and smoking cessation workshops, to raise awareness of the lethal health consequences of tobacco use and exposure to second-hand smoke. The day is also used to mark the beginning of extended media and advocacy campaigns or to introduce lasting policy changes, such as making public and workplaces 100% smoke-free.

Martubartion in Islam View

May 27th, 2007 by ida-in-english

Manwoman1"Most often, students, bachelors or widowers and hypocritical godly persons are its victims. It is such an evil practice that has ruined many families and many more are being ruined today. The lack of manly vigor and decline in the standard of young men’s health is evidence enough for this horrible social evil, eating into the vitals of an otherwise healthy nation. If only our young men could foresee the consequences of this evil at their own hands bring on them! It can be said with some certainty that eighty percent of our young men are the victims of masturbation. This accursed practice affects equally the heart, the brain, the liver, the stomach, the kidneys along with the reproductive organs. This practice makes the muscles and the nerves of the reproductive organ sagging and lifeless. Accumulation of fluids in the veins makes it unfit for its normal function. There is extreme feebleness in the power of erection. The heat of the friction between the delicate muscles of the organ and the tough hide of the hand damages the former beyond repair." (Miftahi, Modesty and Chastity in Islam)

Following the excitement which accompanies masturbation, comes the feeling of shame, anger, humiliation, and the sense of futility. This sense of guilt and humiliation deepens as the years go on, into a suppressed rage, because of the impossibility to escape. The one thing that it seems impossible to escape from, once the habit is formed, is masturbation. It goes on and on, on into old age, in spite of marriage. And it always carries this secret feeling of futility and humiliation. And this is, perhaps, the deepest and most dangerous cancer of our civilization. Instead of being a comparatively harmless vice, masturbation is certainly the most dangerous sexual vice that a society can be afflicted with, in the long run.

MASTURBATION UNDER ISLAMIC LAW

Islam strictly forbids the waste of seminal fluid through masturbation. The one who discharges his seminal fluid with his hand is damned. This evil practice removes the normal bright look of a man’s face, and he looks melancholy and dejected. He loses his health and quite frequently his vitality and sexual stamina through this disgusting practice.

The Qur’an declares: "The Believers are those who abstain from sex except with those joined to them in marriage bond, or those whom their right hand possess for (in their case) they are free from blame, but those who crave something beyond that are transgressors."

Beyond the wife and slave woman all ways and means of sexual satisfaction are unlawful. They include adultery, sodomy, masturbation, etc. From this it can be deduced that masturbation falls under the context ‘but those who crave…’ and is therefore immoral and a sin in Islam. Views expressed by the Shafi’i jurists on this matter are clearly illustrated by Imam Nawawi whose opinion is typical of the Shafi’i jurists as a whole. He declared that masturbation was absolutely forbidden. It was only permitted when it was performed by the hand of a man’s wife or concubine, for he has a right to the enjoyment of her hand as he has to the rest of her body.

The author of Subul al Salam according to al-Juzairi, states: "Some of the Hanbali and Hanafi Jurists are of the opinion that masturbation may be permissible in the event that one fears (that is, not engaging in it) would lead to his committing adultery, fornication. But be cautious that such a view is weak and is not to be relied upon."

According to the Maliki school of thought masturbation is deduced to be illegal from the following hadith narrated by ‘Abdullah ibn Mas’ud (Radhiallaahu Anhu): "We were with the Prophet (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) while we were young and had no wealth whatsoever. The Prophet (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) said: ‘O assembly of youths; whoever among you possesses the physical and financial resources to marry, should do so, because it helps him guard his modesty; and whoever is unable to marry, should fast, as fasting diminishes his sexual power.’"

Therefore, the jurists of this school are of the opinion that if masturbation was permitted, the Prophet (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) would have acknowledged its permissibility because this is much simpler than fasting. Since the Prophet (Sallallaahu Alayhi Wasallam) did not mention it, demonstrates that it is prohibited.

From the evidence presented so far, it can be seen that Shari’ah not only classifies this type of unnatural waste of seminal fluid as illegal, but also advocates strict measures for its prevention.

Fundamentalist and Terrorist

May 22nd, 2007 by ida-in-english

360 Why are most of Muslims fundamentalists and terrorists? We all know this question is often hurled at Muslims, either directly or indirectly in world affairs. Muslim stereotypes are perpetuated in every form of the media accompanied by gross misinformation about islam and Muslims. In fact, such discrimination and acts of violence against West media following the bomb blast, where the press was quick to declare a Muslim behind the attack.

According to Zakir Naik’s book (Common questions about Islam), a fundamentalist is a person who follows and adheres to the fundamentals of the doctrine or theory he is following (for a person to be a good scientist, he should know, follow and practice the fundamentals of science. He should be a fundamentalist in the field of science. But not all fundamentalists are the same. One cannot categorize all fundamentalists as either good or bad. Such a categorization of any fundamentalist will depend upon the field or activity in which he is a fundamentalist. A fundamentalist robber or thief causes harm to society and is therefore undesirable.

Most of Muslims are proud to be a Muslim fundamentalist. “I am a fundamentalist Muslim who, by the grace of Allah, knows, follows and strives to practice the fundamental of Islam”. A True Muslim doesn’t shy away from being a fundamentalist. People who proud of being a Muslim knows that the fundamentalist of Islam are beneficial to humanity and the whole. There is not a single fundamental of Islam that causes harm or against the interests of the human race as a whole. Many people harbour misconceptions about Islam and consider several teachings of Islam to be unfair.

According to Webster’s dictionary Fundamentalism was a movement in American Protestanism that arose in the earlier parrt of 20th century. It was a reaction to modernism and stressed the infallibility of the bible, not only in matter of faith and morals but also as a literal historical record. It stressed on belief in the Bible as the literal Word of God. Thus fundamentalism wa a word initially used for a group of Christians who believed that the Bible was the verbatim word of God without any errors and mistakes.

According to the Oxford dictionary, Fundamentalism means strict maintenance of ancient or fundamental doctrines of any religion, especially Islam.

A terrorist is a person who causes terror. The moment a robber sees a policeman, he is terrified. A policeman is a terrorist for the robber. Similarly every Muslim should be a terrorist for the antisocial elements of society, such as thieves, murderer and rapists. Whenever such is true that the word ‘terrorist’ is generally used for a person who causes terror among the common people. But a true Muslim should only be a terrorist to selective people. In fact, a Muslim should be a source of peace for innocent people.

Can a Woman be Successful Governor?

May 21st, 2007 by ida-in-english

Ida4x6

Every time I read news about our next governor or president, there’s only one thing in my mind. Can woman be a successful governor or president? But how could that be? Historically, women were always at the bottom of the political in this country. Historically, Indonesia was slow to give women chance, even though they have the right to vote. Other countries, let me say Manila, Pakistan and India, did it sooner, but this country has always been a little lagging, so it is not surprising it still is.

A men may be stronger than a women. But a women, I think, can be smarter than a men. Women can do just about anything a men can do. So, there’s no reason that a women cannot be a governor. Women are also very hard worker, and nicer people than men. And they’re apparently more honest than men. Women might make a better than some men, can cooperate with anyone or anything just like men, and takes on a lot of responsibility too.

I always dreaming that someday, my beloved city, has a woman governor. Why only men have been governor? I don’t know. But now, I do know woman can do. This city is more than ready to elect a woman. But, who is she? She has to be the right woman. I believe, there are a lot of women who want to be a Jakarta’s governor. If two or three other women are in the race, It would be a different dynamic.

Women and Men are equal and can both do the job of a good governor. Give women a chance!
